WEATHER STATEMENT:  A very mild January air mass will be replaced by a strong arctic cold front later tonight. In the short term, temperatures near freezing across portions of central Minnesota have created some icy spots, especially on untreated roads, bridges and overpasses. Although temperatures will slowly rise above freezing this afternoon, slick spots may remain. Areas of fog and light drizzle will continue across much of the region this afternoon. A powerful cold front will move across the state this evening. Behind this front, expect temperatures to rapidly drop into the teens and 20s, with single digits in the west after midnight. Strong southwest to west winds of 20 to 35 mph, will create wind chill values of 10 to 20 degrees below zero by morning.
